This blog was created to honor and remember Rocky....and to spread the awareness of animal cruelty. As of now, Feb. 8, Jim Jacobs, the man who shot and killed my dog has been charged with an aggravated misdemeanor, punishable by up to two years imprisonment and/or a $6,250 fine. Please feel free to send this story to friends, other dog owners, animal rights/cruelty prevention advocates...whomever. And of course, please leave a comment if you so desire.

I kept asking myself: what kind of man shoots another person's dog. Not a wild dog. Not a stray. But a tame, friendly animal, wearing a collar and tags. What kind of person just shoots a dog between the eyes, at close range, for no good reason. Who could do such a thing?

But I didn't have the answer. So I Googled him. It turns out that Jim Jacobs is an Iowa County government officer - a county trustree of Hilton Township. Maybe Jim feels empowered in his role...like he's above the law.

I do know a couple things: 1) shooting other people's dogs is not in the job description of a township trustee; and 2) those of us who live in Iowa County should have the right to feel that we can trust our county township trustees.

But I don't trust Jim Jacobs.

Bravo. This is so good to have this seen by the community! I have sent an email to KCRG to ask them to please be sure to run this story on their website as well. It's so good you posted it here, they're not currently listing it there.

I cannot read 10 seconds into this true story without breaking down in tears. Yet, every time I sit at my computer I read it over and over again, feeling sadness so deep, hoping it will ease Rocky's pain. Well, his pain is gone, and he is in a better place now, a place where that monster Jim Jacobs cannot go. Rocky is safe now. I loved Rocky. Not the kind of love Randy has for him. I was only blessed with a few moments of Rocky's kind playfulness. You couldn't ask for a better puppy, nothing but play, play, play, and lick, lick, lick.... as much as you could handle. Randy loved him so much, and Rocky loved him back. Please don't even ask what kind of man could do this. This is no man. This is a coward. This Jim Jacobs is nothing more than a coward who killed a one year old beautiful little puppy named Rocky. I hope there are some interested readers out there who will help Rocky's cause and speak up against this puppy murderer.

I cannot believe such cruelty could exist. I am with you in your sorrow!
